About John Hambrick

John Hambrick

John was born and raised on the beach in Southern California. He serves at Buckhead Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where he’s been on staff since 2004. Currently at that campus he is Director of both Starting Point and Staff Development. This is not, however, John’s first rodeo. He’s served in other churches as both an associate pastor and a senior pastor. He was on Young Life staff in Ventura County, and from 1994 through 1996 was one of the chaplains at Kings College, University of London.

John earned a bachelor’s Degree from Pepperdine University, a master’s degree from Fuller Seminary, and a doctorate from Columbia Seminary. His wife, Patty, teaches art at a public grade school. They have a son, John Jr, and a daughter, Carrell. When John isn’t at work, he’s reading C. S. Lewis, hoping the Los Angeles Dodgers can regain their former glory, and “keeping his chops up” on one of his five guitars.

Move Toward The Mess:

The Ultimate Fix for a Boring Christian Life

Editorial Review

“John Hambrick challenges North American and Western Christians to do the very thing most of us studiously avoid: move toward the messiest people and situations in life. John’s book will challenge you to do the very thing you least feel like doing. In the process, you might discover the two things you so desperately need: transformation and Christ.”
Carey Nieuwhof, author and pastor of Connexus Church
